Where do we start? Periods are part of normal life for a female. 1 week where we feel like crap, feel bloated & generally feel uncomfortable in every outfit we put on. THIS IS NORMAL GIRLS 👊Period weight gain is totally normal & on average a female will put on 2-6lbs a few days previous to her cycle starting. This usually drops of a few days into the cycle and is completely normal

Medical research has identified around 150 symptoms that people may experience in the days leading up to a period. Food cravings, increased hunger, water retention and swelling are premenstrual symptoms that may make a person feel like they are gaining weight.

People may experience increased water retention around the time of their period. This is due to an increase in the hormone progesterone.

Progesterone is the hormone that actitvates another little sod of a hormone known as aldosterone, which causes the kidneys to retain water and salt. Hence the bloating around the abdomen when we are about to come onto our favourite part of the month!!

Hormone levels fluctuate throughout the 28-day menstrual cycle. These changes can affect a person’s appetite making us females crave foods! (Don't worry girls, bread, chocolate and ice cream are all a girls dream during period week!)

So the next time we step on the scales and throw the towel in.. ask yourself where you are in your menstrual stage? Do you feel bloated? Have you eaten more? All these factors contribute to a push in scale weight and 9/10 these are temporary (just like our mood swings 😀🤪😑)

Keep being bosses
